REF:New Police Recruits
DATE: January 4, 2002

On January 4th, 2002, three individuals will be sworn in as Elyria Police Officers. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 10:00 AM in the Community Room at the Elyria Police Department.

      Information on the new Police Recruits is as follows;

          Gerald W. Lantz III, age: 23, is married and has one child.

          Vincent M. Ligas, age 24, is married and has two children.

          Gregg W. Drake, age: 26, is single and has no children.

All three recruits will be required to attend the Basic Police Academy in Cleveland Heights, OH. This training will begin on January 7th, 2002 and will last for approximately 16 weeks. After successful completion of the police academy, the new recruits will be placed in a Field Training Program at the Elyria Police Department for a period of 14 weeks.
