The Elyria Police Department recognizes that employees often excel by going above and beyond what is often referred to as normal or routine work. A formal system for recognizing excellent performance was created with the establishment of the Award Review Board which screens all award nominations. An awards classification was established and qualifications are listed for the respective awards.
