On August 27, 2000, a citizen flagged you down to report that there was a person sitting on the Broad Street bridge. Through investigation, you located a white male sitting on the bridge with his feet dangling over the edge. Upon closer observation, this subject had a handgun pointed under his chin. You were able to convince this individual to put the gun down. Once the weapon was neutralized, you waited for the right moment to grab this individual and pull him off the bridge railing. For your courageous effort facing this armed individual that wanted to commit suicide, the Elyria Police Department is honored to present you with the Medal of Valor.
