How To Report A Missing Person
In order to initiate a missing person report you must first, contact your local police department. Contrary to what many people think, at the Elyria Police Department there is no wait time to report a missing person. That means that if you have a missing persons and you have given him/her time to return and still no contact has been made, it's time to start the process of filing a missing persons report. FYI If you have a photo of the missing person that would be a huge step in the process finding the missing person.
Missing Juvenile
Contact the Elyria Police Department's Detective Bureau for all missing children. When reporting these children they are immediately placed in Ohio Leads Database throughout the state of Ohio.
Missing Adults
We ask you to fill out a report if the missing persons is an adult, but as with the missing children
the department can only report the missing persons into the Leads system if they have the following circumstances:
Mentally Impaired
Physically Impaired
Suspected of Foul Play or victim of a crime
In need of Medicines or Medical Attention
