    On Friday September 19, 2003, at 1155 am, the Elyria Police Department responded to 1401 Harper St, a business known as Mammoth Used Auto Parts, in reference to a robbery.  The officers located the owner/employee of Mammoth Used Auto Parts, Steven Babson.  Mr Babson stated he had been robbed.

Responding officers also located a victim of a gunshot wound at that address.  The injured party is believed to be a customer and is identified as Elias Vicens, a twenty-four year old Lorain man.  Mr Vicens had been driving his Maroon Mercedes Benz which was parked in the driveway of the business. It is believed Mr Vicens was shot while inside his car through the drivers side window.  Mr Vicens was transported from the scene by Lifecare Ambulance.  Mr Vicens has been treated for his injuries and released from the Cleveland Metro General Hospital.

    Mr Babson reported that two black males, approximately 20-25 years old, wearing dark clothing entered his business with handguns and demanded money.  Mr Babson gave the suspects the money from his wallet, safe and briefcase.  The amount of money is not being disclosed at this time. 

    The suspects fled the area on foot in a northbound direction from Harper St.

    The events of the robbery and shooting are currently under investigation.  As part of the investigation a composite drawing has been developed of one of the suspects in an attempt to identify them.  There are no suspects in custody at this time.
