On April 20, 2003 at approximately 0402,
the Elyria Police Department received a report of gun shots in the area of
Broad St and Court St in downtown Elyria.
Responding officers observed a large crowd in the area and located a
shooting victim laying on the sidewalk.
The victim was pronounced dead at Elyria Memorial Hospital.
The victim is a thirty year old man
identified as Andre Major of 1151 West Ave, Elyria. The Lorain County Coroner determined the cause of death as a
gunshot wound.
The Elyria Police Department has arrested
a 22 year old Lorain man identified as Guy Richard Cheers of 2311 Oberlin Rd in
connection with this investigation. He has been charged with murder. He is held with no bond pending his
arraignment in the Elyria Municipal Court.
Natalie Pinkney, age 19, of 3069 Elyria
Ave, Lorain Oh has also been charged in connection with this
investigation. She is held on $11,000
bond. Pinkney has been charged with
Tampering with Evidence, Obstructing Justice and Possession of Criminal
Tools. Pinkney will also be arraigned
in the Elyria Municipal Court.
The Elyria Police Department is currently
continuing the investigation and following up on available leads.
