REF:Adam Wittaker Drowning

On May 9, 2000 at approximately 1051 hours the Elyria Police Department responded to a call in the area of 405 Oberlin Road as it adjoins the Black River. A citizen reported finding a lifeless male body in the river in that area. Officers responded and with the assistance of the Elyria Fire Department, the body was retrieved and transported to EMH Regional Medical Center.

An autopsy was performed by the Lorain County Coroner's office and fingerprint identification was used to positively identify the victim. The victim was identified as Adam Whittaker, age 34 of 121 Cascade Street, Elyria, Ohio.

The coroner's office has made the determination that the cause of death was drowning, however, the circumstances surrounding that matter remain under investigation.
